May 7, 2019 - The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is entirely Grenache-based and is another home run wine from Clos St Antonin. There is stellar complexity in the nose, with heaps of ripe red and black fruit, spice, licorice, white pepper and crushed herbs radiating from the glass. There's a full-bodied, silky texture in the mouth, outstanding balance, and large doses of sweet fruit that persist on the everlasting finish. This wine is a testament to one of the differentiating hallmarks of 2016 in that it offers up exuberant fruit yet in no way fees overdone thanks to the balancing act of abundant acidity.
