Community Tasting Note

  • #1Winelover Likes this wine: 100 points

May 13, 2019 - I haven't had this in over a year so I decided to re-visit and it is still an exceptional bottle of wine that is holding up nicely. Perfectly. On the 1st night, it was very good but on night #2, it all came together. Note to self: decant, decant, decant!

Dark purple throughout, with a great and strong smell. The acid and tannins have all come together. Pronounced flavors from Las Piedras; including earth, stone, mineral, and lots of chocolate. There is harmony with this wine and there is so much going on, it is a pleasure to drink.

5/13/19, 8:28 AM - Still regret not backing up the truck for this wine. I only have one bottle left... thinking 2023 will be good year to pop in a horizontal tasting alongside some of the great 13's asleep at the moment.

Note - Benchmark shows 9 of these available @ $208

5/13/19, 6:22 PM - there is always the next vintage! I would tell you that it's ready now with a nice decant or good for many years to come.

10/8/19, 2:14 PM - Great note. When you saved it for the second night, did you use any wine preservation methods like argon gas or just left it in the bottle with the cork back on?

    10/9/19, 7:10 AM - Thanks!

I just left it in the bottle with the cork on, but put it in the fridge. On day 2, I took it out of the fridge and waited a couple of hours.
