May 25, 2019 - A traditional Barolo from a small producer. This wine is made from the Paiagallo plot, bordering the town of Barolo on the western side, and aged in Slavonian wood. Medium garnet with a brown tinge. Nose: menthol at first, then liquorice, then blackcurrant, iron minerality, undergrowth. Palate: the tannins are distinctive and the acidity fairly high. More forest fruit, with meaty undertones. Long finish. Very traditional in style (evocative of B. Mascarello or Rinaldi). A little gem.
