  May 31, 2019 - At a Loire Valley tasting, blind. First of our theee bottles, and my first Saumur-Champigny. At a tasting unsurprisingly dominated by whites, this stood out among the reds. Another cab franc, a more conventional one, was quite nice. This blew it away. Dark, purple color. Complex nose, dark fruit, some lovely floral notes and a mix of spice. Palate was also complex, blueberries, plums, some pepper in the back - lots going on. Long finish. We were pairing these with goat cheese that one of the group flies in from the Loire every spring - the whites paired really well. So did this, but I think this could be quite comfortable on a table with grilled meats as well. Should have bought more.
