June 8, 2019 - Purple with hint of orange/pink on rim variation. Medium plus legs. Aromas of dark fruit:blackberry, blueberry, black currant. There's also mushroom (hint on Day 2), medium toast, cedar, oak, black pepper, cinnamon, black olive (hint on day 1), eucalyptus and coffee. Body is medium/full. Coarse and angular texture. Long finish, low acidity. Impression: this wine is bold and comes at you from many angles. Dark fruit, spice, earth, and more. Announces itself boldly. Complex, but slightly off-balance because so many items bounce around on the palate. Definitely an intense, masculine, New World Wine. Enjoyable and interesting. At $20, QPR is just below average. May be at later phase past peak, so drink now.
