June 10, 2019 - I’ve had several bottles of this wine already but, while everyone who has been drinking it with us was very enthousiastic about it, it never really connected with me.
Now, with this 4th bottle, I think it is all comming together...

First of all: I know Querce Bettina now for 10 years and I love their Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. They are classic style with often some more freshness of fruit than others. But always refined and complex.
Now this wine is much more about concentration of fruit and some distinct notes from the ageing in oak. Much more what many people come to expect from a modern wine.

Secondly: this wine needed some time to settle and harmonise. That has clearly improved over the past year.

Now the wine as well as my mindset on it have settled a bit I can conclude that it is actually a very nice wine and a great new effort from this producer.

The great Sangiovese juice is complimented quite well with a minimum amount of Cabernet Sauvignon (10%).
Dark ruby colour. Full aromas of cherry, blackcurrant with some licorice and hints of toast. Full bodied on the palate with chewy-smooth tannins and some balancing fresh acidity. The finish is long with a spicy zing to it. It could still use a bit more time to balance out a bit further.
