June 10, 2019 - PnP. If this were a song, it would be “Hot Hot Hot!!!” by the Cure. ABV is way out of balance tonight, and without balancing acidity, it’s just a hot, gloppy mess. Put the cork back in after one glass, put it in the fridge, and hoping that it’ll show better tomorrow. Will update if it shows improvement.

Update: on night two, and served much cooler, the alcoholic heat was significantly tamed, but still present. Lots of fruit showing through. Maybe a "high end barbecue wine," but hard pressed to think of what food I'd want to eat this with.

6/11/19, 1:51 AM - spot on, i. e. my impressions as well. Bonus points for The Cure reference. Hollowell and I striking up the band tonight, should be good times.

6/11/19, 4:44 PM - 15.7% ABV is hard to keep in check. I'll try it again this evening, serving it a bit cooler to see if that helps. We'll see....

6/13/19, 2:46 PM - Not a summer wine, but maybe winter chili companion. Unless you live in California that never has winter. :)

6/14/19, 3:47 PM - You know, I really liked this right out of the gate in 2016 even though the oak was over the top. Now, it sure seems like it never has and never really will find its balance.

6/16/19, 5:38 PM - Well, one thing with high ABV wines is that the alcohol never goes anywhere. Tannins and acids and flavor evolve. 15.7 is always 15.7
