June 16, 2019 - Expressive aromas of cassis fruit, blueberries, black cherries, spice box, cedar, red licorice and pencil lead. This is very young and super primary, but wow does it have tremendous potential. Super concentrated and pure dark black and blue fruit hit the palate with enough restraint to keep the wine very focused. Full bodied, the tannins are profound yet not harsh and the structure is fantastic for a valley floor wine. There are layers and layers of flavor with lots of earthy character. It finishes very long. Excellent representation of BTK. Definitely give this a ton of air if opening now.

    8/3/19, 11:43 AM - Greetings Again,
When do you think it will be in its drinking window? Dave

8/3/19, 12:29 PM - Hi Dave - I think it really depends on how you like your cabs. If you enjoy it full throttled, fruit driven and opulent, you could drink it now with a 5hr+ decant or over the next few years. If you like a bit more restraint, increased complexity and the development of tertiary flavors like leather and tobacco, then 10 years or more. It's going to be great no matter when you open it (within 20 years), but surely a lot of when you should pop the cork depends on your personal preference.

Love the tobacco and leather flavors. Guess I will have to command my body to live to at least 80. Grin Some of my friends think I am nuts but buying three bottles of Mouton and three bottles of Lafite 2018. Will open when 8 decades have passed since my birth. Had both of these from the 1959 vintage. It was surreal. Want to relive that experience as close as possible.

    Take care my friend—-Dave

8/3/19, 3:15 PM - Looking at 2016 Bordeaux on Robert Parker most drinking windows start after 8 to 10 years. I was surprised as heck to see newer vintages with such early drinking windows. Have things changed-I wonder. Only buying six bottles as previously stated so it will not be that big of a deal. Will get out a steak knife to cut through those tannins! And who the hell knows-if I live into my mid 80’s I will sit back and smile-crank a bottle open and sip the day away.

I noticed in one of your posts for this wine you talked about an earthy character while the other post seemed to indicate that characteristic was not that present. Am I reading that correctly? Dave
