Community Tasting Note

June 10, 2019 - Complex melange of fruit and oak. Both are pretty strong though you notice the oak more. The nose is really where the expression is. The palate just comes along for the ride. Medium bodied and lean. This drinks pretty mature to me. And isn't real interesting honestly. It's nicely acid driven making it a nice dinner companion but on it's own it's just alright. There is no sense of the sort of density or layers that would suggest improvement from here though it will last for quite a while. Fine.
EDIT: Drank over three nights with little change.

6/21/19, 12:13 AM - These do need a very long decant. The 2006 was only just released. I don't think this the best vintage - there is a simplicity to the fruit - but I do think it's more accessible young. The complexity does arrive. When you give these 20 years they really sing, but I admit the herb garden and strawberry patch stuffed with vanilla laced tobacco isn't everyone's cup of tea.

6/21/19, 9:41 AM - I didn't point out in my note that I drank this over three nights so the decanting issue is not really relevant. I don't remember much change other than a bit less expressive with that last glass.

I'm not a bullish as you might be on it's aging trajectory. It's just the reverva after all and not the gran reserva. And for $30 is a decent wine. It certainly might improve but in my experience this wine did not display the sort of structure that makes me think it's going to be better in the future. It will certainly last a long time. Make no mistake about that. If someone was curious, laying this down for a decade or more is not much of a risk.
