June 21, 2019 - Only by the pale color and rustic Italian typicity can one recognize that this is Sangiovese. Everything else? A disaster. Sweet, overripe fruit on the nose, Primitivo-style - blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry. I can't begin to describe how sweet this fruit is. Not cooked, not oxidized, but just disgustingly sweet. Alcohol is 14%, but tastes like 15.5%. Do I have to mention that it's unbalanced? Acidity is losing every battle here. Short finish, nothing. Easily one of the worst wines I've tasted this year. The sad thing is that this producer's Brunello is flawless (at least the ones from 2010 and 2011). What the hell happened here?

4/10/20, 2:02 PM - I had a 2015 tonight and think it was one of the best rosso di montalcino in memory, even better than 2013 pian del'ornino that is awsome. Re your experience, I think you might have got an off bottle, give it another chance, maybe try 2015. Even though 2016 should be more on the elegant side, and have more acidity, less PH I would guess. Anyhow.. happens to open an off bottle
