June 29, 2019 - Taste TOP Wines for July (San Diego Wine Co.): WAY too cold
From a 10.64 ha vyd planted from 1985-2008 in "sandy, silex-ridden topsoil with an undercurrent of pink limestone;" Typically, "Indigenous yeasts for fermentation with 24-72 hrs of cold soaking before fermentation begins; Fermentation lasts 15 days to 1 mo in s/s tanks. Malolactic blocked; Wine raised in s/s & enamel tanks;"
N: FRAGRANT *gooseberries* with notes of spice & minerals coming on
P: Med body; Very RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt buttressed by a BRISK acidity which is the face of the wine into & through the LONG, tangy finish with ult a subtle (honied?) swtness. FASCINATING stuff for now & through '20 min, though if acidity is not PARTICULARLY your "thing", you might want to cellar this 6 mos or so. 13.5% ABV; My EXC-/EXC. 7/29/19, 5:24 PM - I don't generally feel comfortable with anything other than a range -- & I'M probably doin' WELL *if* I can even replicate THAT. :( I list all the equivalents on my Profile Pg here, for this wine my EXC-/EXC = 90-93/100. [BTW, though I've yet to purchase this, I've by NO means ruled it out!] ;)

7/29/19, 5:39 PM - Apologies—I did see that about your scoring methodology but apparently misread it. I recently read that Trotereau replaced Kermit's previous Quincy producer upon the vigneron's retirement following the '05 vintage.
