July 19, 2019 - Tasting at Alejandro Bulgheroni Estate (St Helena near Meadowood): This was my favorite wine of the AB tasting, which is saying something because I thought many were spectacular. Stunning purple in the glass, showing super pure and gorgeous violets, ripe black cherry, cassis, chocolate, wet stone, herbal notes and hints of tobacco. On the palate, a perfect silky mouthfeel frames opulent mostly blue fruit that cascades over the pallet in wonderful waves of flavor. True to the site, this also has excellent mineral driven notes and shows a nice sturdy backbone and fine grained tannins. The finish is long a absolutely satisfying. This is ready to compete with the top tier of Dr Crane producers.

4/12/21, 8:30 PM - I like the wine, but dislike their prices. I think they're up to $325/bottle for the Crane/BTK/LPV wines. Since I can get Vice Versa for $250, which is probably slightly better and also Melka made from the same Beckstoffer vineyard sources, it seems ludicrous that they keep upping the price. I suspect it will be cheaper aftermarket with a little digging. I've already seen under the table deals, indicating they are distributing it and it isn't moving at full retail. If price isn't an issue, then you'll certainly enjoy the wine. Especially Crane and BTK.

4/13/21, 10:22 AM - You are right. Looks like a place is selling the BTK and Dr. Crane for $295/ea. Direct, AB is still selling for $325/ea and their "blend" is $400+!

Realm in the retail/secondary market is also way up there and I agree that VV and maybe even MM are better priced. I love the wines from these two vineyards, but the prices are starting to get ridiculous.
