Community Tasting Note

August 19, 2019 - New bottling from the producer from younger vines. Instead of Mt. Veeder, it's Napa Valley AVA. Medium nose gives graphite, sweet herbal tone, black fruit, fresh coffee grounds. Palate is fresh fruit, some red layers, red plum, blackberry, black plum, coffee note is lessened, a touch tart, drinks with very little oak influence as expected, then structure backs things up well, medium plus tannins, medium acidity, medium plus body. All that being said, lacks a mid-palate and might be a touch tight relative to it's fruit. Cool to see entry price point from this producer.

10/3/20, 2:43 PM - confused by your note. What do you mean "new" bottling and entry price point?

10/3/20, 3:02 PM - What I was tasting was not their estate Cabernet from Mt. Veeder that is in the $135 range. It was a $26 (wholesale) bottling that was a new product. There's not a listing on cellartracker for it, and now I'm surprised to not see it on the Mayacamas website. It might be a restaurant only distribution.

2/23/21, 2:26 PM - I picked some up at a retail wine shop but they said they got it from a local restaurant chain that had liquidated their cellars as part of a re-org or sale of some kind. So, I think maybe it is a restaurant-focused release? Anyway, cracking one this weekend to check in on it.
