August 21, 2019 - Served this with dessert and I don't drink much Sauternes but this was crisp and apricot tasting and a treat. We also lit up a couple of Cuban cigars a friend had brought us but this diminished the wine quiet a lot which was a bit unfortunate and now I see why the sip brandy with cigars!

This Chateau, while a neighbor of d'Yquem, always scores within a few points, some years as little as a point diff, but the price point is so much more affordable for so many people. These Sauternes from the better producers can really surprise you. The bad Sauternes (and there are plenty of them!) can turn you off for life. As one of my good French winemaker/friends once told me...."there are 8000 Chateau in France making wine. 150 are extraordinarily good/great, the rest......are sheet!"
