August 25, 2019 - On this evening we had Morstein 2007 against 2010 from Wittmann. Two bottles like they couldn't be more different. The 2010 has freshness, clarity, aromatic depth and above all is very well defined and clear. The 2007 is marked by unclean reading, shows some botrytis and is washed out and imprecise in all its kind. The 2010 shows clearly its origin in the aromas, the typical combination of citrus notes, white and yellow stone fruit and hints of dried herbs. The limestone power plant works in the depths. The 2007, on the other hand, washed out in aromas, apple sauce, white peach and spicy notes, the contours are spongy and waft. (However, since so many good reviews have been written about the 2007, it may also have been due to a creeping cork.)
