  September 1, 2019 - Pleasantly surprised to find the 1996 Bonnes Mares with an open and fragrant nose, as so many de Vogüé wines are tightly wound and brooding and you'd expect nothing less from this vineyard or vintage. Ripe cherry, iron, soft spice, and topsoil notes. Palate is more reticent, defined by chewy tannins and that 1996 acid. Drink starting 2022.
