September 8, 2019 - Come on NYC Falkenstein Posse (tm)! No notes yet? The wines have been out like 2 weeks now. Given that, I decided that I needed to make the sacrifice and go out and grab a few bottles from the neighborhood stores and take one for the team! That's just the kind of guy I am. So I decided to start with 'the #3' (well, after the 2017 red.) Tangerine, lime, juicy fruit gum, whipped cream, lavender, spray soap, other herbs. it's a little bit of a shock because it's fruitier and juicer on the nose than the 2016, but have no fear - the acid and lightness and zing are there in spades as well. it does make for a bit of a 2-tiered feel, but it works and will integrate with age (will check tomorrow). Showing a little sour right now (maybe it's the pepperoni pizza I'm eating). Lemon, lime, stones, minerals - good acid and drive, but a little grumpy. Will check in again tomorrow.

Day 3: lime, lime pith, crushed stones, flint, whipped cream. Really crystalline and light and pure. The palate has resolved well and is similar to the nose: lots of lime and lime pith, some lemon, saline, stones, some herbs. The end of the palate is quite saline and packed with what seems to be brown spices - they are what now coat the sides of the tongue as we move into the finish. the finish is sour and stones and spices - there is an intense pulse of acid and sour lemon-lime when swallowed that reminds me of the palate on day one. Excellent and a steal for the price, but in the middle of the pack when it comes to Falkenstein experiences from 2016-8. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 16/20.
