September 27, 2019 - This is drinking more tired than some '01s and '03s of this I've had more recently. Medium(+) garnet color. Aromas of dark fruits, potpourri, orange peel, exotic (Indian) spices, cinnamon, clove, anise, hibiscus, sassafras...pretty incredible nose actually. I could smell this all night. Pairs well with the new Tool album. Sorry, got sidetracked there. Medium bodied, medium(+) acid, long finish and robust in the mouth, with flavors of liquor-soaked dark cherries, stewed black fruit, black tea, and lemon, with grippy, drying tannins. I dunno—the tannins and acidity suggest further longevity, but the fruit seems on the cooked side. It's still delicious though and the nose is amazing. I'm quite enjoying it to be honest. 98-99 nose and maybe like 91-92 palate? I'm glad to have had the opportunity to stay up and sit with this one; it's been a nice experience. I don't know what I'll do with the last two bottles with regard to drinking/aging (which means I'll probably forget about them for a minute and age it more indiscriminately).
