Community Tasting Note

  • Yack Man Does not like this wine: 80 points

September 30, 2019 - Based on the Cellartracker point rating scale, I'd give this wine an 80-85 rating or a grade of a C. Clearly the majority of CT raters out there are more enthused about this wine, but the one is not for me. Very muted and never showed much of anything even after the second day. Not much on the palate or the nose going on. I guess I'm just a new world Napa Cabernet/ Reds kind of guy. This one was disappointing.

9/30/19, 11:20 AM - I wonder if the bottle was flawed. Cork taint typically causes muted aroma and flavor, even when the characteristic TCA odor of wet cardboard isn't noticeable.

9/30/19, 12:53 PM - I don't think the bottle was flawed. The color was vibrant, a deep dark garnet with a reddish purple border, but the nose was muted and the flavors were quite suppressed. This one is just not my style.

12/3/19, 8:45 PM - Yack man- I like you as a Napa first guy. I tend to think these guys need 7-10 years to soften and gain complexity to break through the linear and tannic profile of Bordeaux in the younger years.

I will open one tonight and see what’s what. Like I need an excuse to try a wine :)

12/3/19, 8:54 PM - LiteItOnFire, I look forward to your thoughts on this one. Like the majority of other tasters on CT, you may really like it and that's okay too. I'll stick with the Napa profile for now.

12/3/19, 9:53 PM - Super tight. Didn’t budge an ounce. My sweet spot as I mentioned is 7-10 years at a minimum and they still need a decant. I have never had this one but have had the mod (~$100) and higher-end St Emilion are they have very good with time.
