October 12, 2019 - Sassicaia Vertical Tasting (Friend's home): Vertical tasting of '14, '15 & '16 Sassicaia (no detailed notes, going off of scents and flavors that were memorable).
Wine of the night. Aromas of dark earth, dark fruits and a soft spice. This showed a lot better than my previous experience of this bottle and more in-line to the first few times I had this a year ago (probably bottle variation for the previous tasting note). Bold flavors of dark and dense red and black fruits and deep earth. The oak and spice is more subtle compared to the '14 and '16. This was good straight from the bottle and became slightly better with time in the glass. The texture and feel of this on the palate is richer and denser than '14 and '16. It's also more well put together and presented itself a lot better than the other two. A good reminder as to why I purchased these in the first place. A pleasure to enjoy now if you ask me but I usually like them young.3 people found this helpful 10,656 views
