March 20, 2019 - Stunning day with Jesse Katz at Carter Cellars for bottling day. This is their Nomad label, which is a label that does not happen every year. The 2016 vintage is from the Sugar Loaf Vineyard in Napa and is made up of 93% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Less than 100 cases produced.

Dark purplish ruby red that completely coats the glass. Rich nose layered with baking spices, dark flowers, dried plums, currants and dark gravel. A touch savory with tree bark. Medium plus tannins (7/10) with a medium plus to full body. Complex flavors on the palate starting with rich baking spices, cinnamon, vanilla, powdered cocoa leading into black currants and cherries. Gritty texture throughout but still smooth. Dry and long finish. Drink till 2031.
