October 25, 2019 - Moderately “bretted” bottle. A little funky for sure, but only a little iron and iodine notes from the Brett. Moving towards mature fruit, darker and softer, but fine tannins underneath. Some sandalwood on the finish. Without the Brett I think this would be brighter and fresher and more to my liking—but to each his own.

While you can get iron notes in CdP (Charvin is the example that comes to mind) it typically balanced and adds depth/complexity. This made the palate thin and shrill, detracting from and obscuring terroir—more like spoilage. A shame, as “clean” Pegau bottles are exceptional. This one wasn’t, and this bottle variation is the main reason I no longer buy this producer in volume.

For what reason ? I can only think to draw attention to himself? Would advise not replying and/or telling him to FO (in old currency). I don’t think this is reasonable or pleasant behaviour...
