October 22, 2019 - Tasted both the regular and Tardive cuvees single blind over two days, bottles simply recorked and refrigerated. Day 1: Dark fuchsia purple throughout, love the vibrant color of these fresh Cru Beaujolais. Slightly more delicate on the nose with notes of red currant, lavender, and crushed stones. Crunchy and juicy on the palate with fresh red fruit, firm yet approachable tannins, and crisp acidity. This wine is more deft and lean than the other with a more minerally balance to the fruit. Initial impression is this wine will drink better with food at a young age. Day 2: The fruit is a little fuller today giving the impression of a more open and balanced wine. The extended air has opened this wine up a bit giving a glimpse of what will be delivered with age. Overall Impressions: I believe this is the regular Roilette because of the elegant juicy style. This is the regular Roilette and it is glorious, succulent, and effortless. First experience with 2018 Beaujolais and Roilette has knocked it out of the park. The wines are rich yet elegant with fresh acidity, appropriate fruit density, fine tannins, and youthful complexity. I do not get an impression of overripe or sweet fruit at all with these wines. The amount of pleasure derived from the modest Gamay delivered by this estate is staggering.
