November 18, 2019 - I had this on two recent occasions. Very oxidative. I remember Tom Stevenson complaining about this problem with Bollinger's wines back in 2013. (I had one or two complaints from customers at my Majestic branch at the same time.) Given the time-lag involved with the release of the NV in 2012/2013, it would make sense that this oxidation problem would rear its head in the 2007 vintage.

That aside, I did enjoy this bottle even though it tasted much older than it should. Not a great Grande Annee but one to drink while waiting for 02s and 08s to mature. I should also add that this looks at the moment to be the last 'affordable' Grande Annee; with the change in bottle-shape kicking in with the profound 2008, Bollinger have taken the opportunity to increase the price significantly (Charles Heidsieck have done exactly the same thing.)

11/18/19, 2:37 PM - Great review. I have a few of these as well as half a Dozen of the 2008’s. What you say makes perfect sense. Love Majestic btw, make a point of ordering when I can from my nearest branch in Chesterfield.

11/19/19, 12:54 AM - That’s good to hear. I’m no longer with Majestic but I’m lucky enough to live a few hundred metres from my local branch. I’m hoping that things turn out all right, now that Rowan Gormley is selling parts of the business off.
