November 19, 2019 - Had it twice now out of 375s. First time was rather dumb and monolithic, too much oak and earth, rather bitter fruit. The second time, gave it more air - 2 hrs instead of just 1 - and was rewarded with a much more fulfilling experience. I don’t think the difference in air time explains the difference in experiences. More likely there is bottle variation. At any rate the better example still started off with quite an angular attack but it also has rich dark berry and pomegranate, along with roast beef and a sort of chickory. For a 2009, still a bit forbidding. Should be left alone for a good long time in the cellar or given ample air before tasting.
Score: 91. But probably going to improve. Relative to expectations: +
