November 23, 2019 - Fully mature as exhibited by a dull ruby color, with tinges of garnet at the rim; predominantly tertiary aromatics and flavors; lots of sediment when poured into the decanter; and waning fruit. Aromas and flavors display dried tobacco, decaying leaves, old dried celery, stewed cherry and plum, stale blackberry preserves, and dried cedar. Very complex. Tannin and acid still in the mix and support a long finish. Unlikely to improve with further cellaring and may be starting to decline. Still was able to stand up to a chargrilled NY sirloin. Recommend drinking sooner rather than later and certainly by late 2020. Great example of a mature Napa Cabernet although the 1997 BV Georges Latour was better at the same age.
