December 16, 2019 - A gift that was in cellar for 2 years. No risk of drink date passing, wine is drinking just fine. Dark garnet colored. Needs a little air, nose is typical Mendoza malbec; fresh grape notes, juicy blackberry, slight leather and dust. Vigorous swirling kicks up some lavender and clay. Palate is smooth with plum and blackberry and very fine tannins, and finishes with a kickback of acid and alcohol. With a juicy grilled steak, this is a no brainer. I didn't have with food but seems it would play off of a good spicy Argentine chorizo, contrasting its smooth fruit.
