  December 17, 2019 - Single glass out of a coravin. After one hour in the glass, the nose is reserved but still has the classic woodsy, dusty chalk scent you expect from the vintage. On the palate the fruits are both vibrant and resolved. Soft on the mouthfeel lush red cherries shine out of the gate before easing into a crackling sage earthy finish. With some time the minerality begins to show itself with a layered gravelly texture. Excellent long savory finish caps of an exceedingly enjoyable wine that paired perfectly with a petite filet mignon. At 24 years old this wine holds together well but is a “drink now” bottle. The 1995 vintage remains my first love and this glass brought with it all the great memories. I’ll be sad when father time renders the vintage well past its prime but for now she remains a favorite.
