January 1, 2020 - Brown color - no reddish tint left - with a lighter edge, slightly hazy (which probably is an effect of time in bottle). Powerful nose with walnuts, caramel and burnt sugar, various dried fruits including some dried red berries, oiled mahogany wood, and a whiff of volatile acidity. Sweet with fine concentration and high acidity, caramel, dried fruit aromas including red berries (perhaps more on the palate than in the nose), some pepper and other spices, and a very long and pleasant aftertaste. 93 pts.

This was a 2010 bottling of the 1952.
