January 23, 2020 - Good colour. Dark mainly damson and plum fruit on the palate with some dark berry fruits emerging. Very dry and quite astringent at first with damson skin tannins. After half an hour, it began to soften and showed more character and complexity. It retained the characteristics of a food wine (balance of fruit, acidity, and tannin) and was good with gourmet sausages. Better after food, too. Still too young, really, but bought in a supermarket so only a recent vintage was available and, as usual, there was no suggestion that it should be opened early or kept for a year or two.
Note. A quarter of the bottle was kept until the next day and was much better, softer and fruitier, emphasising that this is too young but has a future. I have added a point for potential.
