  February 10, 2020 - Fruit is more subdued now. Oak tannins are highly pronounced (as in earlier tastings) but strangely upon opening, there was an effervescent quality that blew off. Fruit is black and has hues of sweetness on the mid palate owing to the vanilla from cooperage. I don’t think this wine is dead, and the drinking window is through 2020 at least, depending upon how you like your wine. That said, this is a highly manipulated style and the fruit backing off is laying bare the manipulation.
