February 20, 2020 - I wanted to see if California Cinsault would improve with age.

Blood red rather like a Cabernet Sauvignon with a nose of smoke, earth, garrigue, and bing cherry. Very promising. The mouth is front-loaded with more of the smoky and savory dark cherry character and some initial grip. But then it lacks mid-palate backbone and substance and there is no focus on the abrupt, slightly bitter finish. Sort of like Zinfandel with garrigue but no bramble berry sweetness. (14.1%)

This was much better in 2017. However, it is still enjoyable and should pair well with whatever pairs with quality Zinfandel.
