February 20, 2020 - Tasted blind. P&Ped, although I joined in at least 1h later and to take this already in advance I was told this got off to a much stronger start. When I bumped into this I found mixed berry fruit, ripe in style but not yet jammy (just about). Very signature 2014 profile with a cooler character. Later actually lots of fresh, blue and a bit darker fruit. Just a tad spicy initially, more like a feature, but becoming more dominant over time, also darker. Sweet tobacco and licqeurice. Transports some nice leathery notes to the palate. Dense, but with soft tannins and good balance. A good, in fact great wine - but coulnd’t quite pull me in all the way. Prefer the 2012 and eager to taste 2016.
