February 21, 2020 - Decanted and then straight in the glass with no more air. A very funky smell to begin with, but after ten mintes the funk blows away nicely, opening up an aromatic and complex world of leather, meat, dark plums, earth, tobacco, bonfires and hints of iron. This wine is defintely not a youngster, but there is still life and fruit left in the bottle. Medium mouthfeel, good acidity, worn tannins and a nice length with a little lash of fruit left. After half an hour, however, the fun is over, but this was a worthy end to a 50-year long wine life. Perhaps more fun to drink than the quality should indicate alone, but a nice experience whatsoever.
