February 27, 2020 - Slow ox for two hours. Also had a 2016 MacDonald and a 2013 William Cole - Oakville Small Lot Series open.
The Scarecrow was just sexy. Mostly red fruit. Baking spices. Rutherford Dust. Classic.
We drank this mostly before dinner; the MacDonald was the big boy that paired best with the ribeyes. Returned to the last half of this bottle after dinner. I wouldn't say it opened up more - but certainly didn't fall off either.
If we didn't also have the MacDonald open, this might have been a 100 for me.3 people found this helpful 5,840 views

2/29/20, 7:58 AM - Thanks City Squirrel. I am taking my 2017 allocation - 3 pack, plus a mag. The price jump on the mag is hard to swallow, but this is truly one of my top 2-3 wines year after year, and my absolute favorite in Rutherford.
That said, even I couldn't justify the crazy price tag on the 3L ($5,000)! You could buy a whole case of the 750s at list price for that!! -

Thanks for the notes AGEVERETT! -
