March 9, 2020 - Pours very dark, 90% obscure reddish black. Nose has cherries, tangy yogurt, plum, and tobacco. (after 2 days of air) Taste is loaded with black berries, cassis, chocolate and wood smoke. Medium-high acid and high alcohol make this a robust wine. Tannins are easy going. Needs lots of air to achieve this experience however.

Interesting, developing wine. Day 1 we found the fruit very thin (88 rating). Days 2 and 3, the fruit palate gained significant weight but both the alcohol and acid kicked way up. I like the Day 2/3 version better due to the richer flavors but the alcohol is a bit much (91-92 rating). Recommend decanting it and keeping it cool and/or serving with spicy food, salami or strong cheeses.

Lacks the regal, refined quality I remember from the 2012 vintage. This did not seem as good a QPR, but at the same time I'm not dissuaded from trying other vintages, as long as they've been decanted several hours.
