March 14, 2020 - Pato Baga Tasting (at home): Vertical of four Filipa Pato Bagas, the '15, '16, and '17 Nossa Calcario (80+yr vines) and the '17 unoaked, amphora-fermented Post Quercus.

12.5% alcohol. The '17 looks its age: inky red-violet; tyrian. And it shows the most boozy bouquet on opening, which quickly turns to desert flowers and cherry candy, and then becoming almost tangibly wet and sexy; a red river, then changing still, broader and deeper with floral cherry and rootbeer notes.

Flavors of black currant, bing cherries and licorice, little bit of coffee and mint. Lovely wood treatment. Spacious blood orange, mouthwatering, and expansive. Long, alluring sour candy finish.

Wonderful to drink now, especially with a ton of air. No sense of how long these last but there's a lot here now - 2028
