March 21, 2020 - Just tasted the 16 Riservas from Monsanto and Felsina -- both are excellent wines and staggeringly good values (under $25 good customer price) and bound to be great wines in 10-15 yrs. And the wines side by side express their terroirs and house styles perfectly -- the Monsanto, dark fruited, earthy, more brooding by impeccably balanced; the Felsina brighter, red toned, some tobacco notes, terrific bouquet.... Anyone who loves chianti should buy these both by the case and stow them in a dark cold corner of the cellar, particularly those of us who perhaps shouldn't be buying Rancia or Il Poggio given our ages-- and note the time of acquisition as a reminder of so much of what is great and humble at the same time as we pray for our friends in Italy to get back on their feet
