March 29, 2020 - Dried apricot, grilled lemon, red apple skin, brioche crust, wet travertine, copper, and olive oil. A more academic and direct execution of flavor, with a slightly angular finish that still manages to present a decent layering effect, but does so with a more rigid delivery. I would’ve guessed this was a heavier Pinot Noir or Meunier based Champagne than a BdB.

This is much improved from an off bottle I had recently. More mid-palate depth, flavor expansion (though still a bit limited and linear), and enlongated finish here. The 2010 is a more complex and interesting version in my opinion.

Hold this 2009 for a couple years to see if it can loosen up a bit. 91-92+ points.

5/7/20, 7:22 AM - Agree with you about this being a deceptive BdB! Wold have guessed at some Pinot being in there. Loved the wine; also agree needs more time.

5/7/20, 9:30 AM - This wine has very good potential but definitely seems to need a few years to round out some of its angularity. Surprisingly, the 2010 is much more expressive in its current state than the 2009. The 2010’s flavor expansion is really nice right now by comparison.
