Matt Scott Likes this wine: 95 points
April 8, 2020 - Dark berries, such as blackberry and wild blueberries, along with freesia flowers, river rock, white pepper and chocolate milk. Super long and flowing, with polished tannins and a savory, yet full body. Feminine and more subtle than previous vintages, with proper staying power. Drink 2022 - 2032.

8/8/20, 11:21 AM - Decanted for 1-hour plus then started tasting. Just a beautiful wine, and emailed Mike O. to tell him so. Elegance and balance, with plenty of perfume and stuffing. I expect it will really start singing at 5 years of or so. 93-96 points. Thanks, Matt.

8/8/20, 1:27 PM - I am so glad you enjoyed it! Papa’s has been a perennial favorite since the first vintage in ‘05. The ultimate is the classic, almost perfect ‘16. Legendary.
On a side note, the ‘18 Sierra Mar Syrah is the wine of the vintage for Carlisle. Mythic. It’s the best yet from there and Mike loves it as well. -

8/8/20, 1:57 PM - Thanks, Matt. I will definitely pick up some of the '18 Sierra Mar. And will be on the lookout for the '16 Papa's Block. I tasted that with Carlisle out in RRV in 2018 a little bit before release and it was my wine of that tasting!
