October 19, 2008 - Deep purple garnet and still incredibly tannic even after an hour of decanting. Underlying notes of prune and blackberry with nice notes of oak and glycerin. Tastes a lot like a young Bordeaux without the pencil and earth. Could this be a sleeping beauty? I would have rated it higher but after several years of cellaring this wine shows little if any give on the mouth searing tannin levels. The could be a phenomenal wine in 5 to 10 years if the tannins loosen their grip. Anxious to try again in a year or so and see how the wine has evolved.
