Community Tasting Note

April 29, 2020 - It's exactly as NYC_Maenad says it is. Shame on me. I had little access to my Italian cellar since this was released, and didn't get to drink it in its proper window. Opened one tonight, and it's exactly as she says. Absolutely drink up. Lighter body, red fruited, absent enough fresh acidity to render it compelling. I will be rushing through the next 5 bottles. 14,5% abv., drink yesterday. Loved it on release; thankfully paid just 10 Euro at the cantina, fwiw. Still. That said, I still hold out some hope that my remaining 5 bottles may show better, fresher.

4/29/20, 7:32 PM - Interesting note (in conjunction with the previous one). I drank a bottle last week and kind of had the opposite reaction. When the ‘16 first showed up in the US market it was a little too much for me. The spice notes (clove, something close to cinnamon) were a bit too in your face, to my taste, and a bit atypical, as well. Last week, it seemed to me like it was finally calming down somewhat.

    But of course...de gustibus !

(In all seriousness I expected exactly what you have portrayed)

4/30/20, 5:18 AM - Also interesting considering Aldo's comments on this wine on IDTT. He suggested it was all of a quality that could have been in the Barbaresco had they wished to do so. I enjoyed it younger but a recent bottle was also very good.

7/4/20, 2:22 PM - Had it over two days yesterday and today. Respectfully disagree. It is fantastic IMO and better than it was on release. Perhaps some of it was damaged in distribution? That can happen. My bottle has many years ahead of it.
