  May 8, 2020 - A strip loin steak with asparagus - it's the season - and artichoke with a gorgonzola based sauce. That's on the menu today. A nebbiolo seemed appropriate as accompaniment. The langhe nebbiolo from the house with the rhino did a very good job. Forest floor and mushroom are dominating the nose and that is what you get on the palate. The intensity is just about sufficient to rival the gorgonzola. Earth and modest tannins temper the black/red fruits in this sapid red. Unfortunately towards the finish it's -how to put it? - empty. I would have liked some acidity, a tannic bite, a rough edge, but they are just too modest. Very good, but short of excellent, is the conclusion.
