May 14, 2020 - Produttori del Barbaresco vintage tasting, alongside and the 2010 D.O.C., the 2011 Rio Sordo, over three days.

The densest of the three, and for the first time in my experience over the last several years, seemingly a touch muddled. The most open of the three on the first day, and also the least interesting, lacking its customary precision.

The second and third days mostly brought the wine out of its shell. Whereas the other two bottles offered mostly high-toned, red precious stone hardness, cut, and lift, this wine delivered mostly purple and black berry flavors, shrouded in a type of loess-like dustiness.

Likely in a phase, and this has always been a deeply concentrated wine. I came away from this experience wondering if its substance will outlast its structure. If I were a betting man, I would answer: 'Yes'.
