Community Tasting Note

May 15, 2020 - I have had this wine twice recently- both times in a zoom tasting (I delivered the bottles to peoples homes and then we tasted together virtually). I have not had other people's recent experience. The wine was in no way flawed and it was enjoyable - even interesting- but it lacked the energy of its youth. It did have a lovely mix of dark dark fruit, licorice and garrigue but I never felt compelled to take another sip. It just lacked anything truly compelling. I loved this wine in 2015. And last year I really enjoyed the 2012 but in March of this year I tried the 2005 and found it very tired. I am wondering if perhaps I am not a real CNP fan even though of love them in their youth and have had a few profound ones with age. I have 1 more 2010, a few 2005s, a few 2009s, a bunch of 12, a bunch of 15 and 3 of the 16 so I guess I will be able to continue the experiment!

5/15/20, 1:33 PM - You may just prefer them on the younger side. Nothing wrong with that. I happen to like my CdP with 8-15 years of age generally. If you like 'em at age 5, there is nothing wrong with that!

10/10/20, 8:31 PM - My 2010 papet was similar. I love CNdP but this one was off. Try Charvin CNdP for nice balance, nuance, minerality and little to no heat.
