November 2, 2008 - I feel that maybe the 2004 Montes M is playing games with me. My last rating I scored in the mid-80's, however this bottle was significantly improved of the last two that I had from my cellar. This bottle was oozing with ripe blackberry, current and cassis. The huge tannins flex their muscle on a very young but age worthy M. This wine will require several more years of cellaring before it start to reveal its true self. Drink 2011 to 2021.
This wine continues to perplex me. I don’t know if the two bottle I had earlier are the true representation of this wine or the wine I had last night. If it is the wine that I had last night this is an outstanding wine deserving of the $55+ per bottle cost. If it is the wine that I had from the last two bottles $55+ would be grossly overpaying for this bottle of wine.4,581 views
