June 22, 2020 - Dark ruby color turning violet at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose gives off violet flowers, smoke, ripe dark berries and evident oaky vanilla. The palate is very sumptuous and savory with bright acidity, earthiness featuring ripe blueberry, black tea, balsamic sauce, cowhide leather, and graphite. Still in its youth but drinking wonderfully now that all aspects are in great balance. This could develop further nuances later on as it ages, but such a crowd pleaser right now. Finishes long and mentholated with dusty tannins that I’d expect to get silkier down the road. Drink now until 2035.
