July 17, 2020 - Trying this one in 2014 it was a really gorgeous Brunello so I kept 4 bottles for enjoying further development. I regret having waited till 2019. It's by far over the top, getting a sherry-like touch. Lesson learned.

7/17/20, 7:55 PM - There is no reason that good Brunello shouldn’t last at least 20 years enjoyably except a flaw...oxidation, TCA, Brett... or the fact that this wine is made so far over the top in terms of ripeness and extraction that it lacks the acidity to age gracefully. Personally I find this wine terribly unbalanced and over-engineered, BUT if you like big powerful wines in their youth then you are right to drink it relatively young. Nevertheless I think your conclusion that you waited too long may be actually more a flaw in the bottle...my guess is bad cork/oxidation. Better luck next time!

    Cheers!

Unfortunately, it sounds like your bottle suffered from a flaw as pointed out. Hopefully this won’t deter you from seeking out other Brunello’s with more age on them since they can be spectacular.
