July 18, 2020 - Bought en primeur, it is my first bottle of this wine.
Still impressively dark red, slightly translucent and with a glossy viscosity. In the mouth this is classic medoc with bramble and blackcurrant, cedar and a touch of mint. Perfumed, precise and with the sweetness of perfectly ripe fruits.
In the mouth the wine may only be medium-bodied, but it boasts intense aromatics, and very good texture and persistence on the finish. Although not youthfully tannic there is lots of structure left and the wine will easily keep for 10+ years. Vintagewise this does not feel as big as a 2005 or 2010, it is more remiscent of a 1996. Somehow a Medoc of old times in a very good rendition. Not supercharged, but with a perfect cross between ripeness and restrained elegance.

7/18/20, 9:04 AM - Thank you, Mark. If I remember correctly the wine was below 35 Euro in 2009. A steal. Honestly I had my doubts, when Robert Parker and almost no one else called this a very good vintage. But it seems, that he got it right.

7/18/20, 9:12 AM - I know many people who despised Parker and his notes, but for my palate he's been dead bang on almost without fail and I still don't know how he managed to nail so many vintages correctly when others don't.....and how does he know when a certain wine is going to be drinkable and/or peak 25 years down the road? Amazing. Cheers, pal!

7/20/20, 2:16 PM - Full agree.. Had the LP08 a few weeks ago, to round up a night after Flacianello 2011 and Oreno 2012. The LP was by far the best. What a wine..

7/20/20, 5:57 PM - Thanks for the additional vote up on this one, tb.....good to know! I bought only a few select '08 BDX since it was considered an 'off' vintage but like the '03s we may find out they were pretty good! Still so many good buys on these '08s out there in the marketplace.
