July 25, 2020 - Surprised to not see any tasting notes for this. At PnP, French oak dominates on the nose and palate, which is very surprising given the producer. Some blackberry and violet. Will return to it tomorrow, hope it integrates, and update accordingly.
Day 2: The oak has mostly integrated, giving way to quite elegant blackberries and violets, with some cassis and dark cherries too. Lots of cracked white pepper on the palate. The finish is marked by an interplay between bacon fat and a mouth watering acid backbone. Most reminiscent of Lagier Meredith, with a touch more plushness, probably owing to the warmer temperatures of Stags Leap relative to Veeder. Clearly a well made wine.
Realistically, I'll let my other bottles rest for another five years or so. I think this will age very gracefully. 12.8% ABV544 views
